“It’s the Climb”: DBFC Community Hikes Toward Perseverance and Brotherhood
by: Aspirant Alden Ross Fillaro

On February 17, 2026, the Don Bosco Formation Center (DBFC) Community celebrated the Chinese New Year holiday with a hiking activity themed “It’s the Climb.” The theme emphasized perseverance and focusing more on the process rather than the outcome. The celebration was organized by the Human Formation Team and attended by the formators, aspirants, and novices.

The group departed from DBFC and hiked toward the peak of “The Little Switzerland of Cebu” located in Sitio Campinsa, Barangay Manipis, Talisay City, Cebu. The activity began with a prayer, followed by a zumba exercise, and then the start of the hike to the destination. This event served as a way of fostering fidelity and perseverance while also developing the values of companionship and friendship amidst the challenges of reaching a common goal. After having lunch at “The Little Switzerland of Cebu,” participants gathered by sodality for group sharing about their experiences during the hike.
Indeed, this activity became a moment of grace and unity for the whole community. It reminded everyone that companionship and perseverance are essential values in formation, especially during the more difficult parts of the journey. The activity concluded with joy and a deeper sense of brotherhood, leaving everyone with renewed gratitude for God’s grace and for one another.
