On May 7–10, 2026, Don Bosco Technical College – Cebu, under the Pastoral Animation Department, organized an SYM-BED Leadership Camp with the theme: “Send, Think, Envision, Plan, Serve (S.T.E.P.S.).”

On the first day of the camp, the campers were welcomed as the series of inputs began. The first and second inputs of the day focused on understanding oneself as a leader and conducting a SWOT Analysis. These sessions were facilitated by Ms. Florainda Yso and aimed to help the participants better understand themselves within the framework of leadership. The day ended with Eucharistic Adoration, journaling, and a good night talk by Fr. Antonio B. Velarde, SDB.

The second day of the camp started with an input on being a leader in society, given by Mr. Daryl Torreon, an active member of the SYM-FIS, focusing on becoming a responsible leader in the community. The second input was delivered by Fr. Antonio B. Velarde, SDB, on Servant Leadership, emphasizing leadership grounded in Don Bosco’s values. Afterwards, the Amazing Race commenced, featuring five stations focused on the Salesian Youth Spirituality. The day concluded with a walking rosary around the campus, journaling, and a Bonfire Affirmation activity.

The third day of the camp focused mainly on project planning, facilitated by Mr. Eduardo Empelis Jr., an active member of the SYM-FIS. He guided the leaders in formulating a project framework that would help them organize future events effectively. This equipped them with the necessary skills to organize activities for the student body. The day ended with a walking rosary, journaling, and a lively Talent Night showcasing the talents of the Bosconians.

On the final day of the camp, a final input was given by Mr. Daryl Torreon on commitment to the mission of serving the youth. This reminded the participants of the purpose and determination needed to lead young people effectively. The campers then participated in the Commitment-Making Ritual, forming the camp’s symbol. Afterwards, a concluding Eucharistic Celebration was held in the school chapel and presided over by Fr. Antonio B. Velarde, SDB. This was followed by the oath-taking of the new leaders, the offering of symbolisms, and the signing of the service commitment for the entire school year.

This four-day training aimed to equip Bosconian leaders with sufficient knowledge of basic leadership skills while fostering teamwork among their fellow Bosconians. It sought to guide them in leading the Salesian Youth Movement within DBTC–Cebu in fulfilling its goals, vision, and mission, while becoming responsible leaders inspired by the values and example of Saint John Bosco.
