August 15, 2026– The Chapel of Don Bosco Formation Center was filled with a great number of people who gathered to witness the Missio Canonica or Commissioning as Catechists of 19 graduating students from Don Bosco Formation Center—12 graduates from the Evangelium Program and 7 from the AB Religious Education and Pastoral Communication Program.

The Holy Mass began at 10:00 a.m. and was presided over by His Excellency, Most Rev. Jose Palma, D.D., Archbishop emeritus of Cebu, together with the priests who concelebrated. Among those present were the Rector of Don Bosco Formation Center, Rev. Fr. Godofredo Atienza, SDB, and the professor of the Evangelium students, Rev. Fr. Randy Figuracion.

On the occasion of the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Archbishop Jose Palma, D.D., reminded the graduating students of their mission as catechists. In his homily, he reflected on Mary’s assumption into heaven and reminded the graduates that, like Mary, they are called to help lead many people toward heaven, our ultimate destination.

Following the Mass was the Rite of Commissioning, during which the Archbishop officially commissioned the 19 graduates as professional catechists and sent them forth to proclaim the Good News and serve the people of God.

As part of the rite, the graduates received the Holy Bible, symbolizing their mission to share the Word of God with others. They also received the Cross, reminding them that Christ must always remain at the center of their mission and ministry.

The celebration concluded with a program at the Pilgrim Hall, where the graduates expressed their deep gratitude to God by showcasing their talents through singing and dancing. The joyful gathering marked not only the completion of their formation but also the beginning of their mission as catechists, sent forth to bring the Gospel to others.
