Cebu, Philippines — The FIS Salesian Family Cebu Cluster successfully conducted its annual joint healthcare mission on Olango Island, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, on June 6, 2026, continuing its outreach to communities with limited access to healthcare services. The activity brought together healthcare professionals, volunteers, and members of the Salesian Family who provided medical, dental, and psychological services to residents of the island. The outreach was coordinated and facilitated by Fr. Godofredo T. Atienza, SDB, the FIS Salesian Family Delegate, in coordination with the Don Bosco Past Pupils of Lawaan (DBPPOL) and the ADMA–St. Augustine Parish Olango Chapter.
A total of 219 consultations were recorded during the activity, including 121 medical consultations, 95 dental consultations, and 3 psychological consultations. The mission was supported by 8 medical doctors, most of whom were from Velez Hospital; 21 dentists from Cebu Doctors’ University; 5 psychology professionals; 2 Salesians; 16 volunteers from Lourdes Shrine, including the Salesian Lay Volunteers; and 36 members of the ADMA–St. Augustine Parish Olango Chapter. Through their collective service, residents were given access to healthcare assistance that is often difficult to obtain in island communities.
Now in its fourth year, the healthcare mission continues to reflect the commitment of the Salesian Family and its partners to serve those most in need. Beyond the consultations provided, the activity fostered a sense of solidarity and care among community members and volunteers alike. Guided by the spirit of Don Bosco, the initiative remains a meaningful expression of service, bringing both practical assistance and hope to the people of Olango Island.
