2025 Dec 1, ArchSOLL – The youth leaders of the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes held their leadership camp last November 27 to 30, 2025 at Inabanga, Bohol. The seminar-workshop, entitled “Awake”, begins with the premise that leaders are not born but made and seeks to awaken the leader within each youth. 26 participants from the nine youth groups of the parish took part in the camp.
The participants listened to talks on self-knowledge and emotional regulation, and participated in activities that strengthen social awareness and hone relationship skills. They took time for self reflection, group sharing, and even had to sharpen their critical skills by engaging in debate on social topics. The final part of the camp emphasized responsible decision-making and was capped by a celebration of talents and friendship. They spent the fourth day visiting sights in Bohol island.
The Awake Camp is first of the three leadership trainings for youth. It relies heavily on Social-Emotional Learning framework in the education of youth leaders. The next two camps scheduled for next year will move from ‘leading self’ towards ‘leading others’ and ‘leading groups’. This ladderized youth leadership formation program aims to produce the next generation of qualified Salesian youth leaders.
