May 21, 2025 | Talisay City, Cebu – The academic and non-academic personnel of Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC) Cebu gathered for their annual retreat on May 20–21, 2025, at the Don Bosco Retreat House in Lawaan, Talisay City. The retreat was facilitated by Fr. Rooney John G. Undar, SDB, Youth Ministry Delegate of the Salesian Philippine South Province (FIS).
With the theme “On the Road with the Risen Jesus: From Presence to Mission”, the retreat invited participants to reflect on their personal and communal journey of faith in light of the Risen Christ. Inspired by the Gospel story of the disciples on the road to Emmaus, the retreat emphasized the importance of deep listening, shared reflection, and renewed purpose in one’s vocation.
A unique feature of this year’s retreat was the use of the “Conversation in the Spirit” method, fostering spiritual dialogue and communal discernment. Participants entered into prayerful silence, allowing space for the Holy Spirit to move within hearts and among the group.

“This retreat was a journey inward and outward,” said one participant. “It helped me reconnect with God, with myself, and with my mission as an educator in the Salesian spirit.”
Fr. Rooney’s inputs and spiritual guidance led the group toward a more profound understanding of presence not just being physically present, but being a true companion to others in their life journey, especially to the young.
As the DBTC community looks ahead to another academic year, the retreat serves as both a spiritual renewal and a commissioning to return to their daily responsibilities with hearts afire and eyes open to the presence of Jesus in every student and colleague they encounter.
