DBTC Explores Solar Energy

March 11, 2023 – The Salesian administration held an exploratory meeting on the use of solar energy in a push for a responsible and sustainable power management. Engr. Magdaleno Manano “Jun” Baclay, Jr., an Electrical Engineer and alumnus of DBTC gave the technical orientation. Engr. Baclay is involved in the deployment and training for solar technology.

The Salesian administrators hope to answer the green push of the Congregation by complementing traditional power supplies with renewables. As a technical school, DBTC has a strong energy demand.

Projecting logistics and crunching numbers, the meeting identified the feasibility and the economic benefits of putting up arrays of solar panels on top of the school buildings. While the initial investment can be heavy, the administrators remain bullish on the project.

As DBTC gears up to be the number one technopreneurial school in the Visayas and Mindanao, sustainable technologies like solar power will not only help its energy needs but also educate learners for a greener future.
