DBYC-Lawaan Marks Don Bosco’s Birthday with Youth Victory Party

by: Samantha Mae Salgarino

Last Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Don Bosco Youth Center, Lawaan, the entire community came together in a vibrant and spirited gathering that overflowed with joy, unity, and youthful energy. The event was a beautiful convergence of two significant celebrations: a victory party honoring the recent achievements of the center’s youth participants and a deeply meaningful tribute to the birthday of their beloved patron, St. John Bosco. The atmosphere was electric from the moment families, youth members, Salesian priests, and volunteers began arriving. Warm greetings and excited chatter filled the air as friends reconnected and newcomers were welcomed into the fold.

The victory party served not only as recognition of the hard work, determination, and team spirit shown by the youth in their recent competitions and projects but also as a reminder that success is best savored when shared with the community that supports and uplifts one another. Dance numbers, musical performances, and talent showcases filled the program; each act highlighted the diverse skills and vibrant personalities of the young participants. Cheers, laughter, and applause echoed through the center, creating a jubilant soundtrack to the day’s events.

In the spirit of Don Bosco’s love for the young, there were also games and group activities that encouraged teamwork, camaraderie, and healthy fun. Volunteers and staff worked tirelessly to ensure that the logistics ran smoothly, and their joy in service was evident and contagious.

The celebration concluded with a salo-salo at the basketball court—a shared table that symbolized the unity and familial bond that the Don Bosco Youth Center, Lawaan, strives to cultivate every day. Plates were filled, stories exchanged, and memories made, all in an environment where faith and fun coexist harmoniously. As the sun began to set, the smiles on everyone’s faces told the story of a day well spent—one that honored the past, celebrated the present, and inspired hope for the future.

Celebrating a victory party alongside the birthday of St. John Bosco is a meaningful reminder of what true success looks like. It is not just about winning competitions but about growing together in faith, unity, and joy—values that Don Bosco lived and taught. Our victories reflect the hard work, talents, and spirit of our youth, while Don Bosco’s life reminds us to always walk with the young, believe in them, and guide them with love. Together, these celebrations show us that joy shared in community, rooted in faith, is the greatest victory of all.
