Don Bosco Philippines-South Province joined the highly anticipated Frontiers and Innovations in Teaching Conference (FITCON) 2023 on May 19-20, 2023 at Xavier School, San Juan City, Metro Manila. Don Bosco FIS delegation included: Fr. Rooney John G. Undar, SDB, Commission on Youth Ministry (CYM) Delegate, Ms. Marie Arrianne A. Diolingo, CYM Executive Officer, and Ms. Katrina Siena F. Reyes and Ms. Kate M. Limosnero, DBTC-Cebu Guidance Facilitators.

Xavier School was abuzz with excitement as educators, guidance counselors, school leaders, and experts from around the country gathered for FITCON 2023 equally eager to explore the power of socio-emotional learning (SEL) in education.  The conference kicked off with an impressive lineup of speakers, sessions, and workshops aimed at revolutionizing education through the nurturing of socio-emotional learning (SEL). With the theme “Understanding the SEL(f): Nurturing the Neglected Piece in Education,” the conference aimed to shed light on the importance of SEL in creating a holistic and empowering learning environment.

FITCON 2023 served as a platform for educators and guidance practitioners to delve into the neglected piece of education: social-emotional learning. Through inspiring keynote sessions, informative expert podium presentations, interactive workshops, and immersive playground sessions, participants gained valuable insights, innovative ideas, and practical skills to foster SEL, well-being, and resilience in the teaching and learning process.

Moreover, for the FIS delegation, FITCON 2023 also served as benchmarking activity on SEL good practices and emerging principles to seamlessly integrate socio-emotional learning in the school and guidance programs of the province.

As the conference came to a close, attendees were left with a renewed commitment to prioritize the holistic development of their students and themselves, recognizing that nurturing the neglected piece is crucial for a well-rounded education.
