Don Bosco teachers and academic leaders officially opened Day 1 of the INSET 2025 Program on June 2, 2025 with the theme: “SYNC: Serving Youth with Nurturing Care.” Anchored on the General Chapter 29 theme, “Passionate for Christ. Dedicated to Young People,” the program aims to renew the commitment of Salesian educators to walk with the young in their learning journey.
Held face-to-face from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Day 1 focused on two main areas:
- Morning Session: “Strengthening Instructional Strategies for Effective Teaching” was attended by classroom teachers. The session highlighted learner-centered teaching methods and practical approaches to improve student participation and academic outcomes.
- Afternoon Session: “Developing Instructional Leadership and Supervision Skills” was conducted for academic leaders. It tackled key areas in supervision, mentoring, and school leadership aligned with the Salesian educational approach.
Ms. Janet Fernandez, an experienced education consultant, served as the resource speaker for both sessions. Her talks provided participants with concrete strategies and tools for instructional improvement and leadership development.
The first day of the INSET also reaffirmed the educators’ shared mission to form “good Christians and upright citizens.” Participants reflected on how being “in sync” with the young requires presence, listening, and accompaniment rooted in Salesian values.
The INSET will continue in the coming days, with activities designed to align curriculum goals, strengthen collaboration among teachers, and deepen the Salesian identity of the school community.
