The Knights of the Altar (KOA) of Don Bosco Youth Center – Lourdes successfully held the KOA Basketball Cup 2026 Season 2 from May 17 to June 5, 2026, at the DBYC-Lourdes Gymnasium.
The tournament gathered six teams from different Don Bosco settings and neighboring parishes: Don Bosco Youth Center – Lourdes, Don Bosco Youth Center – Lawaan, Don Bosco Youth Center – Pasil, Don Bosco Technical College – Cebu Youth Center (DBTC-YC), San Lorenzo Parish – Tisa, and Virgen de los Remedios Parish – A. Lopez.
The KOA Basketball Cup was organized to bring young Knights of the Altar together through sports. It gave them the opportunity to meet new friends, strengthen their brotherhood, work as a team, and enjoy healthy competition. Through basketball, the participants were able to develop discipline, sportsmanship, and unity while representing their respective parishes and Don Bosco settings.
The league began with an elimination round in which all six teams competed against one another. The top two teams automatically advanced to the Magic Four round, while the remaining four teams battled for the last two spots in the semifinals.
After weeks of exciting games, the final four teams were Don Bosco Youth Center – Pasil, Don Bosco Youth Center – Lawaan, Don Bosco Technical College – Cebu Youth Center, and Virgen de los Remedios Parish – A. Lopez. In the knockout round, DBYC-Pasil and Virgen de los Remedios secured their places in the Championship Game, while DBYC-Lawaan and DBTC-YC competed for third place.
In the battle for third place, DBTC-YC defeated DBYC-Lawaan to secure the 2nd Runner-Up title. The Championship Game then featured an exciting matchup between Virgen de los Remedios Parish and DBYC-Pasil. After a hard-fought contest, Virgen de los Remedios emerged as the Champion of the KOA Basketball Cup 2026 Season 2 with a final score of 54–44.
The final standings of the tournament were:
• Champion – Virgen de los Remedios Parish – A. Lopez
• 1st Runner-Up – Don Bosco Youth Center – Pasil
• 2nd Runner-Up – Don Bosco Technical College – Cebu Youth Center
• 3rd Runner-Up – Don Bosco Youth Center – Lawaan
Following the games, the Knights of the Altar held an awarding ceremony to recognize the efforts and achievements of all participating teams. Individual awards were also presented, including the Mythical Five and the Finals MVP, honoring the players who showcased outstanding performances throughout the tournament.
The success of the KOA Basketball Cup 2026 Season 2 would not have been possible without the support of the participating teams, coaches, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters. More than just a basketball tournament, the event became an opportunity for young Knights of the Altar to build friendships, strengthen their brotherhood, and grow together in the spirit of sportsmanship, teamwork, and the Salesian family.
