Lawaan Talisay City, Cebu — Young leaders gathered in the mountain community of Mantalongon, Dalaguete for the Surge et Splende Leaders Camp 2026 held from May 27–29, 2026. The three-day activity combined leadership formation, faith, adventure, and fellowship, giving participants meaningful opportunities to grow and build stronger connections with one another.

The camp began with a pre-orientation session where participants were introduced to camp guidelines and activities. Through team-building exercises, campers created team flags and yells and learned the camp theme song dance, Wake, choreographed by Nice and Ice Ceniza. Bro. Simon, one of the process observers, also introduced the Actionbound application that would be used throughout the camp.

Day 1 officially opened with a Holy Mass and send-off ceremony before the participants traveled to Dalaguete. Upon arrival, the campers took part in a Historical and Cultural Trail Race through Actionbound, an Amazing Race-inspired activity that tested teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership skills while introducing them to the local culture and history.

One of the highlights of the day was the challenge of finding their way to Mantalongon using their own diskarte and teamwork. The activity strengthened communication, decision-making, and cooperation among the participants even before the formal sessions began.

The evening included team interaction activities facilitated by Fr. Wilbert Dianon, a Monk’s Meal that emphasized discipline and teamwork, and the Surge Ritual, where campers prayed the Holy Rosary on the way to the San Isidro Labrador Parish. The day concluded with journaling and preparations for Cultural Night.

Day 2 began with another Holy Mass followed by the “Summit Quest: Lead the Way.” All three teams chose to hike Osmeña Peak, the highest peak in Cebu, where they experienced the value of perseverance and teamwork while enjoying the scenic mountain views.

Leadership sessions entitled “Mind-Recharging Moments: What is Leadership?” were later facilitated by Fr. Wilbert and Sir PJ, encouraging the campers to reflect on their potential as future leaders.

The evening featured Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and the much-awaited Cultural Night, where teams showcased their creativity through skits, dances, and performances. Campers also exchanged affirmations and words of encouragement that strengthened their friendships.

On the final day, participants attended their last Holy Mass before heading to Casay Dalaguete Beach Park for fellowship activities, swimming, games, and karaoke sessions.

The camp concluded with a boodle fight lunch and an awarding ceremony. Major awards included Most Improved Camper for Jubal Nimrod Barbadillo, Best Team Flag for Team Altus, Best Team Yell for Team Lux, Surge et Splende Team of the Year for Team Ignis, and Camper of the Year for Jan Eunice Ceniza.

More than the awards and activities, the camp reminded participants that true leadership is rooted in faith, service, humility, and the willingness to inspire others. The experiences and friendships formed during the camp continue to reflect the spirit of Surge et Splende — to rise, shine, and serve the community with purpose.
