2025 September 14, Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes – The Church gifted young people with a role model in holiness in the first millenial saint, St. Carlo Acutis, who was canonized last September 7. To celebrate the joyous occasion that holiness is possible and cool, the young people of Lourdes Parish held their soiree in St. Carlo’s honor after Sunday mass and had their common formation on his life and story yesterday, September 13.
In the soiree, youth leaders arranged a feast for all youth groups to share in dinner after serving in the youth mass, and held a trivia game on St. Carlo. Young people also had fun in playing parlor games. After six days, Mr. Eduardo Empelis gave the monthly common faith formation for all with his own journey in knowing St. Carlo and visiting his tomb.
In celebrating young saints like St. Carlo, and other holy Salesian youth like St. Dominic Savio and Bl. Laura Vicuña, the youth center presents to young people the universal call to holiness. Now that the Church has a millenial saint, more are coming, and perhaps from Gen-Z too in this parish.
