St. Louis School of Don Bosco, Dumaguete City, Inc. held its third SYM FEST after the pandemic on August 23, 2025. SYM FEST is an annual event, usually held after the intramurals, that gathers young people on a journey of mutual understanding inspired by hope. This year’s theme, “With Passion We Journey, With Hope We Champion: #Paglaum,” was drawn from Romans 5:5: “Hope does not disappoint.” The celebration was attended by students from Grades 7 to 12.

The event began with the Celebration of the Word, led by Fr. Jake Caballo, SDB. Before starting any activity, the community emphasized placing God first and offering Him adoration. Following this, the school’s Rector, Fr. Lan Gauo, SDB, shared inspiring words with the youth.

To help the students get to know one another better, a fun icebreaker called Musical Pairs was held. This activity encouraged participants to find a partner—or even form a trio—to mingle and connect.

The highlight of the program was a talk by this year’s guest speaker, Kuya Alex del Mar. He discussed the importance of sportsmanship and self-belief, sharing the inspiring story of Charles Blondin, the French tightrope walker. Afterward, students were invited to share personal stories of moments when they felt hopeless—and how they managed to overcome those challenges.

For the entertainment portion, students from Grades 9, 10, and 12 showcased their musical talents. Each grade’s band brought a unique style to the stage, ranging from rock and early 2000s hits to nostalgic love songs, delighting the audience.

After an eventful afternoon, everyone enjoyed dinner together. Then came the much-anticipated party time: a chance for students to relax, dance, sing, and have fun—complete with a lively foam party. To close the night in true Bosconian spirit, Fr. Joemar Bacucang, SDB, delivered the Good Night Talk, reminding everyone to live responsibly in their daily lives.

Thus concluded another memorable night at St. Louis School of Don Bosco, Inc. From competing in Boscolympics 2025 to forging new friendships during SYM FEST, it was truly a night to remember—a beautiful occasion to strengthen bonds and look forward to next year’s celebration.
