Bosconians Explore Cebu’s Rich History Through Heritage and Arts Tour

by: DBTC correspondence

As part of their academic formation and experiential learning, the first-year college students of Don Bosco Technical College Cebu participated in a Heritage and Arts Tour last May 5, in connection with their Art Appreciation and Life and Works of Rizal courses.

The educational tour brought the Bosconians to several historical landmarks, museums, and cultural sites across Cebu, allowing them to encounter the country’s rich heritage and artistic traditions firsthand. Among the places visited were the Heritage of Cebu Monument, Yap-San Diego Ancestral House, 1730 Jesuit House, Casa Gorordo Museum, USPF Jose Rizal Museum, National Museum of the Philippines – Cebu, and Museo Sugbo.

Through the tour, students were given the opportunity to deepen their appreciation of Cebu’s historical roots, cultural identity, and artistic expressions beyond the four walls of the classroom. The experience also enriched their understanding of the life, ideals, and contributions of Jose Rizal in the context of Philippine history and nationhood.

More than an academic requirement, the activity served as a meaningful journey of discovery, reflection, and appreciation of Filipino heritage helping form Bosconians who are culturally aware, historically grounded, and inspired to value the nation’s rich legacy.
