July 24, 2026 marked the beginning of a new vocational journey for nine young men as they were officially accepted into the Prenovitiate, the initial stage of formation for the Salesian vocation. The Rite of Acceptance into the Prenovitiate was presided over by Rev. Fr. Godofredo Atienza, SDB, Rector of the Don Bosco Formation Center.
In his message to the candidates, Fr. Godofredo emphasized the vital role of Mary Help of Christians in every Salesian vocation. He reminded the prenovices that Mary is a loving Mother who constantly guides, protects, and provides for those who entrust themselves to her. He also encouraged the community to remain grateful for the many blessings they have received, particularly the newly renovated formation facilities. He expressed his conviction that these improvements were made possible through God’s providence and the powerful intercession of Mary Help of Christians, who continues to accompany the Salesian mission with her maternal care.
The rite continued with the presentation of the candidates as the Prenovice Director, Rev. Fr. Joseph Kunle Ogundana, SDB, called each one by name: Aldren Robles, Andrew Espanzo, Lester Rada, Rex Rada, Rhenz Jan Lamadora, Simon Castor, Jerico Cartagena, Stubasa Uemura, and Oliver Callueng. Together, they responded with joy and sincerity, expressing their readiness and willingness to undertake this special period of initial formation as they continued discerning God’s call.
As part of the rite, each candidate received a blessed cross, reminding them that Christ must always remain the center of their lives and vocation. They were also given a journal, which will serve as a companion throughout their formation—a sacred space where they can deepen their relationship with God through prayerful reflection and the writing of their daily experiences.
Following the Rite of Acceptance, the community gathered to pray the Holy Rosary, which was led by the newly accepted prenovices. The celebration concluded with the blessing of the newly renovated formation facilities, including the classroom and dormitory. These renewed spaces stand as visible signs of God’s providence and the community’s commitment to providing a welcoming and conducive environment where future Salesians can continue to grow in faith, fraternity, and their vocational journey.
