Youth Formation on Life: Identifying Emotional Abuse in the Family

January 26, 2024, ArchSOLL Youth Center, Cebu City – The Parish Youth Coordinating Council once again facilitated the formation session on life and youth issues last Friday with the topic “Identifying Emotional Abuse in the Family”. More than 150 youth members from different youth groups in the Salesian Youth Movement, youth scholarship beneficiaries, and other parishes attended the talk at the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes Youth Center gym.

Mrs. May Margaret Sim, MA, RGC, shared her expertise in recognizing emotional abuse within the family and how to cope with it. Mrs. Sim, a registered guidance counselor and psychologist, also coached the youth how to deal with and avoid emotional trauma. Fr. Fidel Ma. Orendain, SDB, the Provincial Superior, dropped by the event as part of his provincial visitation in the parish.

Also in attendance were invited young people from the nearby St. Arnold Janssen Parish and Holy Cross Parish. By inviting other parishes and groups, the youth center aims to share its resources with the wider youth population.

The Thank God It’s Friday (TGIF) is a series of formation talks on youth and life held at the parish every last Friday of the month. It’s aim is to educate and equip youth with knowledge and skills for life and for society.
